Reiki healing

Deeply relax as energy flows freely, balancing your mind, body, and spirit - backed by research in holistic healing.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a gentle Japanese energy-healing practice that enhances relaxation and promotes overall wellness. The word “Reiki” combines two Japanese words: “rei” (universal) and “ki” (life force energy known as "Qi" in Traditional Chinese Medicine or "Prana" in Ayurveda). Reiki is based on the idea that everything is made of energy which flows through all living things.

“Universal life force energy” influences our physical health, harmonizes our emotions, and provides mental clarity. When energy is low or disrupted by stress, injury, or illness, we become more prone to discomfort and disease. In contrast, when energy is balanced and vibrant, we experience peace and activate the body's natural healing abilities.

This non-invasive technique involves light touch or hands hovering above the body while clients remain fully clothed, they can either sit or lie down comfortably. Practitioners channel "universal life force energy" to balance the body's energy centers known as chakras in Ayurveda, which play a crucial role in regulating overall well-being.

Reiki facilitates the body's natural healing processes without physical manipulation or medication. As energy flows to you, you may sense warmth, a soothing tingling or deeply relaxed.

Reiki works primarily by activating the parasympathetic nervous system - the “rest and digest” mode - helping your body shift out of chronic stress and into a state of deep relaxation.

How Reiki can Help you? â€‹

Reiki offers numerous benefits, particularly for cancer patients undergoing rigorous treatments like chemotherapy and radiation. It can reduce anxiety and fear, depression, and stress while improving sleep quality, boosting mood, and alleviating pain.

Cancer patients often report lowered fatigue, decreased nausea, and enhanced overall well-being, which can help mitigate side effects of cancer therapies. Additionally, Reiki promotes better energy levels, improved circulation, support emotional resilience and empowering individuals to cope more effectively with their treatment journey.

Hospitals and Institutions Implementing Reiki

Reiki is a complementary therapy that integrates seamlessly with conventional medical treatments, requiring no special equipment and offering a low-risk option for promoting well-being. By nurturing the mind, body, and spirit, Reiki creates a holistic healing experience that empowers individuals to reclaim their health and vitality.

  • According to 2002 International Association of Reiki Professionals (IARP) study reported “America’s Best Hospitals” (the top 25 ranked by U.S. News and World Report in 2002), 60% of them had formal or informal Reiki programs in place. All hospitals using Reiki said that they believed Reiki to be at least somewhat beneficial for patients, and 67% said they believed Reiki to be highly beneficial.

  • According to 2007 American Hospital Association (AHA) survey reported Reiki has gained widespread acceptance in U.S. healthcare, with over 800 hospitals - representing about 15% of facilities nationwide - incorporating it into patient care programs. This includes volunteer-led initiatives and paid positions in oncology, cardiology, and palliative care.

  • Hospices, hospitals, nursing homes, surgical suites, and other clinical environments cater to patients at different stages of care, spanning from neonatal intensive care to end-of-life support, as well as pregnancy, pediatric care, chronic illnesses, and oncology, including pre- and post-surgical care.

  • Nurses, physicians, and family members can also experience relaxation and reduce stress.

These programs are often volunteer led, provided free to patients, and integrated into oncology, palliative care, and integrative
medicine departments.

“As the number of Reiki requests increased hospital wide, so did the number of volunteers and sessions provided. In 1998, 10 volunteers provided 523 Reiki sessions. In 2012, approximately 40- 50 volunteers provided 3167 Reiki sessions. The total number of Reiki sessions provided over the 15 years is 58,214.”
