Thai Massage

Relieves muscle tension, increases the range of motion and promotes blood circulation.

History

Thai massage is derived from yoga, shiatsu, and osteopathy (balancing your posture) and is one of the traditional medical practices of Thailand. Currently, Thai massage is the most popular form of alternative medicine practiced in Thailand.

The technique is recognized as being an effective medical treatment and is strictly regulated by the Thai government. Many medical studies have found clear evidence showing the health and wellness benefits of Thai massage.

Thai massage has a long history and is said to have been founded by Master Shivaka, who was Buddha's personal physician. It was introduced to Thailand along with Buddhism about 2,500 years ago and has been passed down to the present day.

Benefits of Thai Massage
A Thai massage session includes the entire body from head to toe. The therapist stimulates muscles using various parts of their body such as the palms, elbows, knees, and feet. The therapist stimulates energy lines that run through the body (called sen) with a relaxed rhythm. This rhythm loosens stiff muscles, promotes blood flow, balances the nervous system, enhances the immune system along with the natural healing abilities the human body naturally possess.

Another feature of Thai massage is that it loosens tight muscles, tendons and joints with stretching through yoga-like body positions and poses. The focused stretching increases flexibility and transforms the body into one that is less prone to injury and fatigue. For this reason, it is also called "yoga for two people."

Note
Thai massage is performed on a massage mat and client remains fully clothed. So please wear a relaxed t-shirt (long/short) and long athletic pants with an elastic band for your visit. If you have a specific condition, a 90-minute session is recommended. Thai massage isn’t recommended while pregnant. Read on below the video for more information.
